All of the volunteers have arrived home safely..
It feels incredibly unreal to be here at home. My friends, family, and peers having overwhelmed me with celebration and I feel truly blessed to have them.
The last couple days before leaving were extremely emotional and quite difficult. Everyone said their goodbyes and you could feel the genuine love that we shared as a family.
I will miss Global Xchange so much. The traveling, the people, the cultures, the environments, the host families, the work placements… EVERYTHING. It’s shocking that it is over and it feels surreal. The fast-paced life of LA is back! I can’t believe it.
The jetlag is ok. It does seem to keep catching up with me though. But I’m getting through the nights and days. I hope everyone is adjusting well at home.
It’s Monday, March 28th and I have an audition for Disney and also need to go to the DMV. It seems like everything is going back to reality. Back to every day life and big city life.. I miss being overseas. I learned so much and want to continue in that direction. But we’ll see what happens. I know I will travel, but i’m not sure about when. I will miss the languages we used and our inside volunteer jokes. Our fun times, our sad times, and everything in between.
Thank you British Council and VSO for everything. I genuinely appreciate it,
Lance Blair
